Planting Peach Trees

These trees were a pretty cool surprise... We throw our kitchen scraps around an old stump at the end of our little garden. Last summer when we were weeding the garden, Ron pulled a "weed" that had a peach seed still attached. We put it in a little pot at the other end of the garden and over the summer found a few more. Last fall, we put them in bigger pots and buried them in a wet spot. Then we decided where to plant them and gave them more permanent homes this spring. We also found a new one growing this year and put it at the end of the row. How cool is that?!

The On-going Tear-Down...

In the before and after shots, you would expect this to be the after, right? Well... not in our case! This was the nicely painted "Children's Church" area which is what we now call our garage.... So... here's the "before" picture:
Stage carpet removal...
Stage removal...
Some of the walls coming off... (We also used some of the window frames for the martin house.)
The current condition... The walk-out door will hopefully become a garage door. And the dark spot to the upper right of it is some drywall damage and nasty mold that LCC was supposed to fix before they left. Too bad it's not on the side we're tearing out!

Martin House Project

It was early April, and we still hadn't built our martin house. So we spent some late nights and early mornings on this project. (Ok, so that's pretty much when we get things done anyway!)

Some shots of the work in progress....
The holes we cut out for the birds to enter were a great size to hold the rail.

Painting...
Ready to move in...
